He later developed a smaller model taking 35mm film, after the success of the first cameras for that film format, such as the Leica or Contax. The Exakta VX1000 was a high-end but dated camera from the original Ihagee camera works. It was the final and finest version of a series that began in 1936 with the Kine Exakta. Mine is from 1969 or thereabouts, just before production ended in 1970.
