HSDB is a pre-K to 12th grade school that serves Deaf and Hard of Hearing students throughout Hawaii (despite the school’s name, it now serves almost exclusively the hearing-impaired). Hawaii School for the Deaf and Blind HSDB is the only ASL immersion program for deaf and deaf-blind K-12 students in the State of Hawaii. They also offer Family ASL classes to families of Deaf children. HSDB (in 2003 I believe), we lost that flexibility, and we came under more scrutiny, oversight, and control from Honolulu District. When Hawaii Center for the Deaf and the Bind name changed to the Hawaii School for the Deaf and the Blind, by law the Administrator had to an HGEA Principal.
